Don’t stop exploring life because you have already filled up your space. Clear out what you’ve already learned, explored and loved. Keep going.
Stuff you are holding on to is most likely holding you back from even thinking about pursuing something new. Chances are you are feeling guilty for:
not loving what you already have
having unfinished projects
finances spent.
Our physical home mirrors our mental home in many ways, let go of some physical stuff and your mental load gets lighter too.
Look around, do you see…
Books you have read but new adventures call you so you set them on the bookshelf and leave them there?
Manuals, textbooks, learning material from school, jobs, and hobbies past?
Mementos from vacations that no longer spark the warm memory - they just collect dust?
Collections of stuff that you paid more than they are worth today?
Clothes no longer or rarely worn, shoes that haven’t been out in a long while?
Have you filled your home with bits and duplicates, stuff used a few times and never touched again? Is it time to really evaluate them and let go of all they represented… past and present and clear the space…. the guilt? What new possibilities await you when you are freed from all of that?
Maybe it is something that is as simple as a home that is easy to clean so weekends are more restful. Maybe you have a new passion waiting to be pursued? Maybe a family member needs the space for their peace or passion.
Take 15 minutes and see if you can let go of 10 items you have had long since before 2010 and see how it shifts your physical and mental atmosphere!
