Allowing yourself to dream gives you an impetus to act, change, risk and move forward.
Sometimes your Clutter represents a thought process of “this is the best that you will have” so it stops you from dreaming, letting go, and risking that there might be something better for you.
In my circles, we call that a poverty mindset. What you have isn’t great but at least it’s yours. You are stuck, most likely surviving in some cases. You haven’t dreamt of new possibilities in any real area of your life so nothing changes, nothing is let go of, you don’t have mental or physical room for new or better.
It is so very healthy to dream. You don’t have to start huge and grandiose….
The best way to start dreaming again is to ask, What If….
What if in your Kitchen:
it could run smoother by moving stuff from one cupboard to another
you removed the curtains or blinds and decided you liked the fresh feeling and it led to a few items going in the donate bag from your window ledge or counter.
What if in your Living Room:
you removed all trinkets and artwork that have been there for over 5 years and felt it was time to paint it a new colour or non-colour.
you changed out the planters to updated fresh ones that coordinated with each other and because of that small change, you decided to remove some of the older items from that room.
What if in your Bedroom:
you changed out the table lamps and put up plug-in wall lights and now your side tables have so much more space so you cleared off some of the books and dust that were hanging out there.
you updated the bedding in solid colours, all white, white & grey, white & yellow etc. and it inspired you to make your bed each morning and pick your clothes off the dresser and floor.
Could dreaming… a little “hmmm what if?” pondering, combined with an action cause a shift in your atmosphere? Could you begin to break the poverty mindset that locks you into keeping some things, that have long since passed their usefulness to you?
Try it! Let me know what a simple change can do physically and emotionally. 😊
