Decluttering is NOT Organizing

Decluttering is the act of REMOVING items from your Nest.

So often I hear from people, “I need help decluttering, my house is so disorganized.”

The art of decluttering is not about organizing what you own by, shape, function, or colour.

Decluttering is far more simple than that. Decluttering is easier to maintain once I am gone!

It is…
purely and simply…
removing items from your home…
permanently!

Once you have removed what you no longer need, use and love. organizing your home becomes sooo much easier.

  • A living room with less furniture has less surfaces to leave items on.

  • A kitchen with fewer gadgets, serving dishes, and water bottles - requires a lot less storage to keep things tidy.

  • Less glassware means fewer dirty dishes on the counter/in the sink or forgotten in other rooms and family members just grabbing a fresh one.

  • Fewer lotions and potions in the bathroom mean room to put items away after use

  • Less stocking up on sales and trial and error purchases keep storage spaces from getting jammed packed and messy.

  • Wear what you love frequently and move out clothes you don’t wear (regardless of reason) and see the space between your hangers.

  • A favourite pen is hard to lose track of. Have 20 pens even if stored by colour end up all over the house.

Many factors go into why we keep what we have and not let go on a regular basis.

We have learned well how to buy, save and hang on to things. But somewhere along the way, we missed out on the fact that EVERYTHING has a life cycle and we need to be taught/encouraged on how and when to let go.

I want you to know, it is GOOD and OK to let go, have less. You can’t and shouldn’t keep it all. It. really. is. not. life-giving!

I also want you to know, that, I know…. that decluttering is NOT always simple… there can be a lot of mental entanglements that have to be examined. Hence why I am now a declutter coach.

I have personally walked that twisted path, fraught with “What if?” “I can’t…” “ But it was in the family…” “I paid $$$ for it”.

The challenge is real but so is the LIBERATION and when you win!!!
